Mystery Shopping - Curiosity

Canada

I am interested in becoming a mystery shopper, but I am not familiar with any sites. I have read that some sites require you to sign up for a fee. Are they any good? I am also wondering if there are any free sites to sign up. I live in Canada - does anyone have any experience or ideas for me.

I did mystery shopping for years..i didn't make big bucks, but i made some extra bucks to pay bills and i had a lot of fun! DO NOT ever pay money to join a mystery shopping company!! BMA, Courtesy Counts, and ICCDS are all great companies I have worked for. Unfortunately, I became severely disabled so I can't do this anymore, but I loved it!!!

Any site that asks for a fee for you to participate is a scam from what I have read about them. There are tons of free mystery shopper sites on the internet if you search for them. I signed up for one a long time ago (can't remember the name now) and did a mystery shop for them at a restaurant. It was a lot of fun but the paperwork to it was very detailed and had to be perfect in order to get reimbursed for my expenses. I did end up getting my $30 back from the company for the meal plus a $10 bonus but after that there were never any opportunities posted again in my area. If you live in a large area that would have a lot of market research going on I highly recommend trying the mystery shopping thing at least once. It was a great experience for me.

I'd be happy to PM you some info about these sites. Here's my own experience - I DID sign up with a site and upgraded for an annual fee but I know now I have no need to renew, at least that's how I feel about it at this moment. I don't regret having done this initially because it gave me some information I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. From this one company I've gotten to know several different companies that offer mystery shopping assignments and there is no fee to sign up. Add me as a friend, PM me asking for info then give me a day or so to prepare a list of sites for you to check into and instructions of how to go about signing up for any that interest you. Good luck, and I think you'll enjoy it. Most of the companies I'm with are available for Canadian members but it varies. Annie
