"Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny" is about the meeting & creating of Tenacious D. Also, about how it's members Jack Black & Kyle Gass, go on a quest to find the fabled Guitar Pick Of Destiny. A pick created out of Satan's broken tooth. "Pick of Destiny" feels like taking an overdose of Tenacious D. I wonder if the D. stands for delusional, because many portions, where so convoluted and disorienting, that it feels like being on drugs. At the beginning, you receive a beautiful musical montage. A blast to view. However, after pleasantness, it took a turn for awfulness, becoming a musical gone mad or "Self INDULGENT bonkers". Dave Grohl was funny as Satan, but would have been funnier, had I known that it was him under the costume. I became aware of his presence.. when I read the credits. It's sporadic in delivery and lacked any gravitational pull. It's deprived of both intellectual as well as imaginative humor. I truly am fond of Jack Black but prefer to view him in more brainy music oriented films.. such as "School of Rock" & "High Fidelity". Because this one was a music flick gone "Melodic NutZo".
