what are the chances of becoming an NBA player?

Uh... very bad. I'd say the chance for an average person is in the ballpark of 1 out of a million.

The chances are very slim, indeed. One has to have exceptional skills, a very professional work ethic, the right agent, and a lot of luck. There are numerous college and high school players that were highly drafted and never made it in the NBA and end up playing overseas or in developmental leagues. Plus, NBA teams can only carry so many players, so the chances to even make it to the NBA are severely limited.

It depends on one's capability ,if someone truely desires to be a basketball player,he can. One should have confidence in himself and should work hard.
