This may be an obscure choice, but I used to like Greg Haugen when I was smaller. He was a tough lightweight who won the IBF lightweight title in a 15 rounder (!) against Jimmy Paul. He had two famous fights against Vinny Pazienza; the first he lost over 15 rounds (Haugen won but Pazienza got the decision); in the rematch, Haugen won over 15 rounds in a classic. Of course, Hagler, Hearns, Ali, etc are am0ongst my favourites. But I did love Haugen when I was younger!

My boxing hero is the first black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson because he was the first african american to achieve great success in a popular sport. And he did this way before Jackie Robinson integrated baseball, He was champ in earlier 1900's and he had courage, and was always himself despite being hated by white america just because he was black
