A son to his parents

I read a proverbs and it says: "A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother." How come a wise son only brings joy to his father? But, when he is a foolish one, he brings grief to his mother only.. Does it mean a father enjoys the good thing only, but a mother faces the bad thing? What do you think? Is it true in your life?

When a grown up son goes abroad for job for higher earnings, he brings happiness to his father since he aquires earning capacity and capable of standing on his own foot. After marriage, when he abandon his parents for the sake of his wife,it brings grief to his mother. This is the happenings of poor families in India.
