Would you rather buy a new laptop or a used one?

Many of us use laptops due to their mobility. The question is if you had to have one, would you opt for a brand new one or would a used laptop be good enough for you. I pretty guessed different ones of us would view this based on our personality. But practicality and financial aspects thrown in would also affect our choice. What is your choice on this?

Definitely a brand new one for me. A used desktop might do but definitely not a used laptop. Laptops are notoriously expensive and inconvenient, if not impossible, to fix. No matter what the seller claims, it is hard to take assurance that the money you paid might be gone before you even enjoy it for a month or day.

What you say is true. You are a very practical person. Besides, what is new in a laptop today is stale tomorrow. Technology is going leaps and bounds.

Even if I'm short on money, I'd just set it aside until I could afford myself a new laptop than that of one which was already used. I'd go with the features that I want which can be complied by the brand or feature of the one that has already been from another user but then, my second aspect in getting a new product would be the warranty which only new ones at shops could give compared to what the previous owner could give...

I never by any second-hand or used laptop or computer. I would rather wait for a few days to buy a new one but I will ever buy an old one because it is very evident that the personal sell-off this computer on laptop only when it is giving him some problem or it is outdated and in both the cases it is not something which I like. The second and Fonda is not at all very safe thing to do so I try to avoid it whenever it is possible until now I have not bought any part for my computer images old.

of course , i would rather buy a brand new one ! if i have enough cash but since my laptop broke , i got myself a desktop pc to work with at home and i am planning to get a secondhand with the help of a friend who knows his trade for a better deal but if i have the cash, i would get dell because i can be assured of the insurance they offer called complete care wherein you only pay a little more than a hundred dollars a year and if your dell laptop broke then they would replace it with a new one.great deal ,huh!

I'd go for a new one too. It's safer and less hassle. Besides, you have no real idea as to how the old laptop was used and treated - so better go with a new, unused one :)

Hi creationhub, I would suggest buying a new laptop. Why well just because then you will be the first user. I have bought a lot of second hand harddisks / pcs and they where either to slow after about half a year or there was something wrong with it. The result I had to buy a new one. So I spend a whole lot more on buying a laptop then I wanted to spend. Also you will have garanties that it will not break / die or throw up on you :P. With kind regards, MOnline

Because funds are short I'd have to say that buying second hand would be the best and probably only way I could afford to replace this one I have, BUT I have seen too many people buy second hand and it didn't work properly or for only a short time. If you do that two or three times you've spent as much almost as if you bought brand new. I would buy brand new but a lower model or one that wasn't top of the line if I could.

I would rather by a new one than a used one. At least, I would not worry much if it will malfunction because it is still new. But with a used one, you will not be sure, whether it will work well for longer years. Whereas if it is new, it can still cover for warranty which is one year or two years.

I would say go for a brand new one!~ Especially since it's so cheap now here in our place plus we can just pay by card & break into installments so it's not really a heavy commitment. You'd get a full years warranty & you can upgrade it to 3 years for an extra bit whereas you wouldn't know the used one how much it has weathered through & the wear & tear condition level many times doesn't even exists until something happens.
