The Imperial Overlords, in their vast armada orbiting above the dark side of the moon, have told me to report that I do not believe in extraterrestrial life. But what do they know?

Actually, I do believe in extraterrestrial life. The biggest problem is identifying it, because other life forms may be totally different from what we have on Earth. Instead of Carbon-based, they could be based on some other element. And instead of relying on Oxygen for metabolism, they could rely on something else, like Hydrogen (which is more abundant).

Thats really an interesting point you made...Thats a possibility,of course. There have been certain instances here for us ..something like a flaoting disk etc..isnt it?..I found an interesting episode in the Discovery channel. Do you think they do have civilizations like we have here on earth.

I belive ,I think we are not alone in this life.I donn't know how many like us or different from us could be there but I belive.

Thanks for your ideas. It may be possible as you sugested by you ..a life beyond earth. Its sometimes really pity feeling when we fight over trivial things on earth isnt it...when we actually observe ..earth is like an atom in a universe and we are minute particles in the atoms.

hi there is other life out there where from i dont know but i have seen two ufos-i live in the uk and it has not only been me that has seen them but neighbors the first time and when my husband and i moved we were just driving down a lane and came to a cross roads when a silver disc appeared from no-where there were three cars all behind us and all of our engines stopped whilst this unidentified object was there then when it just disapered our engines etc started up again-it was reported to the airforce and all they said was they would look into it but it was probably some kind of plane they were trying out--everyone was annoyed with that as what we had seen and what had happened we knew it was different to what they were saying-littlowl - ps by the way when it was seen the time was 10-35pm and when it had gone the time was 11pm-there was 20 minutes lost time-how do you explain that? we are definetley not alone in this vast space-littleowl

hi elsoft! i haven't given this much thought but whenever i do think about it, it gets half scary and half exciting. if there were really aliens living in other planets, and they look like monsters as most people describe them, that would really be scary. monsters are supposed to be scary after all. but if aliens from other planets look as much as humans like us, then i think it would be fun and interesting to meet them. it would be amazing to meet a handsome Martian or a gorgeous Jupiterian right? however, i don't believe there are ETs or aliens because if there ever were, we should have communicated with them a long time ago or some encounter could have happened already because of the advances in our space technology which permits man to go to other planet such as Mars. and if there are living beings in the outer space, they should probably be trying to communicate with us too. but there haven't been any solid incident with proofs for that.

it really is a great challenge for man. but thinking about man's natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge, man would never stop until he finds out about everything.

Thanks for your comments Secret bear, Yea its true that we have technology to reach may be upto Jupiter. However the Universe is not limited to our solar system and to have communication..beyond the solar system and to other Milky ways, the technology should have to go through a great deal of updatation. Also since these distances are in Lightyears..it may take a particular signal to reach a few million years...These are some interesting challenges for the Human.

There is no way I could prove (or disprove) extra terrestrial life, but if I would look at it statistically it's very possible! I don't believe in encounters though.. let me explain why. When you think about an issue scientifically you go through phases: 1. The question: floating disks somewhere, another unusual phenomenon. 2. Proposed answers: aliens, angels, natural phenomena, another man made thing like test tools or even planes,illusion... etc 3. Studying and testing: has there been a natural phenomena before that looked like this? if so, what are the causes if not, is it possible that a natural phenomena would form such a shape? what about the weather in that area? has any tools or equips been launched around that area? planes? has anyone else seen the phenomenon? are there any visual proofs of it? etc. 4. Picking the answer with the most proofs. 5. Thorough testing of that particular answer, trying to disprove it then forming a theory: try to repeat the process to give the same outcome, simulations. As we can see Aliens (and angels for that matter) proposition stops at phase 3 as there is no way to test it or try to repeat the process, trying that would give inaccurate results as what we are trying to test is based on assumptions for example the way a floating disk moves, speed, materials etc.. As Brian Silver puts it in his book "The Ascent of Science" "A basic property of any scientific theory is the possibility of it being disproved" We don't have enough input to try and disprove extra terrestrial life, therefore we have no means to prove it.

Thanks for your detailed analysis...This I find is really an interesting topic...Life on another planet..with Science and Technology yet to make significant progress as such.
