I need help with Banners

Recently I have started blogging and have got a website too. I have Adsense approval and I want to put banners to generate referrals for google as well as other affiliates. I have managed to locate the 'source' but i have no clue where i am supposed to paste the html code. I have no much knowledge of computers.Please help me sort this problem. Thanks to all of you in advance.
