Indian Idol - lots of repeat finalists

I was a little surprised at the number of performers who were also finalists from last year. Some of them seem to have just made it on the strength of popularity through the prelims. I would have liked to see more new talent and faces. Did the judges mess up based on their own feelings or is it a gimmick to keep the show more popular. Or is it just genuine talent that is in the finals. What are your opinions? I do agree that all of them are extremely talented, but it kinda feels a little stale to see them perform over and over again!
