My kid is 5-year old and is becoming realize the difference between man and woman, especially the secret part. I try to explain it to her. How can I do that? When did you explain that to your kids? It is an inevitable thing for parents to do.But it is a hard thing for a new mother.

Answer her questions honestly, and use the correct anatomical terms. If she is old enough to ask the questions, then she is old enough for an honest answer - not too detailed, just honest. It's worked for my 2. We never use "secret" words or "pet" names for body parts, so they are comfortable with the terms. It is difficult the first time they ask, but it does get easier the more you do it. As long as they can see you're not embarassed by the whole thing, they won't be either. When it comes time for the "big" discussion we found a delightful book, "Mummy Laid an Egg", by Babette Cole. It was a great ice breaker for the conversation. Good Luck. Em

there really was not specific time that I told my kids..they've always known really....In your situtation though I'd just tell her...don't use big medical terms, dont use too much detail just let her ask the questions and you answer them honestly but age appropriate....the two of you could go online to YahooKids maybe or go to the library and see what kids books there are on the subject and so on.....

I know it is hard to explain, but at one point of time you should definitely be explaining it to her; better use a medical journal that will definitely help you to explain and help her to learn better.
