When travelling have you been a victim of crime?

Every single time I've gone on holiday outside of the uk, everybody I speak to tells me to watch out for pick pockets, to avoid certain areas because of muggings, but I've never had any problems.
In fact we have the opposite problems, everywhere we go we get treated like locals, maybe that's why we never have any problems.
Does this happen to anybody else or is it just me that travels crime free?
