As one of UK's top entertainers for over 60 years what do you think of Bruce Forsyth as one of our greatest entertainers? He is celebrating his 80th birthday tonight on our TV and I am really looking forward to it having been one of his fans for many years. I do understand that he is a great hit in America also. What do you think?

I am not so sure about being a hit in America. I have never seen him here nor heard mention of his name. He was good back when I used to watch him in the early 80s in the UK. But, greatest entertainer? I don't know.

Thanks for your reply. I did think he had a good response when he visited America in his early days but I could be wrong. I do know he has played The Palladium with many great American artistes. For me the greatest he performed with was Sammy Davis Jnr.

I just read his profile on Wiki and I see that one of his ancestors gave his name to the plant Forsythia. I see that he did do a show in the US called Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak, which lasted only 4 months, but still managed 65 episodes(I think it was a daily show) in 1986, which was before I moved there.
