Google- the only real competetor to Microsoft

Since the inception of Microsoft Corporation it has thrown off many competetors and had merged or collaborated with many of them.....but Google is the only one which has neither merged with nor has been affected a lot by the microsoft people.... and its like a war between the two now.... will this competetion help the world or not??
