Ranking 900 out of 15,000

You see this on every post near the top. Rank 847 out of 8477 Something like that , but what does it really mean. Is it good to have a small number or a big number? I'm confused on this one , i know its for each interest and so on.

yes they are the interest ranking. Its better to have less number as rank. It means where are you ranked among all those number of people who are member of those interest ratings.But how it is ranked, I really do not know.
