Going insane without it...

So over the last week I've been moving and was without cable and internet for about 4 days. Let me tell you those were the longest 4 days I've ever had lol. I never realized how boring things are when you can't watch tv and can't log onto the internet. It's weird how reliant we become on these type things. Like for instance, after moving we wanted to order food but without a phone book and a computer had no idea where to go or who would deliever around here. So my question is this.. how dependent are you on the internet? If by some chance you lost it and was unable to log onto your computer for a week or two, would you be able to still function or would it really cause problems with your life?

Oh my goodness do I know your situation...and well too!! When we moved in February last year, I was without it for almost a year! The only t.v we had was from my DVD's because we didn't have an antenna and no cable service would come out here...we thought about getting satellite, but said fck it. We didn't get an antenna until September. Then later in December is when we finally got the internet...thanks to the in-laws. But I was SOO bored!! I have over 800 movies and we watched them ALL more than twice. So ya, I definitely know what you were going through!

I forgot to add that by the time I did get the internet, any time I talked about it my hands started shaking. I was going through MASSIVE with drawls, and I never thought I'd do that...EVER!

LMAO.. yep.. know that feeling. It sucks moving to a new town where I don't know anyone or any place. Just trying to find a place to order pizza from took us 2 hours. We spent the last few nights watching DVD's we rented. During the day I was bored outta my mind cause I couldn't watch tv or use the internet. I could at least play my computer games but even those got boring after a while.

May be you can understand the pain I went through last two months now almost three , I shifted and was without an internet connection and missing all my friends here and then when I got it someone stole the optical fibre and again even after having the connection , I couldn't log in. The problem is still not completely resolved and server may go down any minute. You know without this I really feel lost and stranded in the wild. Thouhg life doesn't stop there but still I miss connection with my friends especially as I do not have long distance phoneline here.

same here, my hubby keeps cribbing about phone bills but we pay a set amount for the net so I also find it comfortable to chat on the net with all my cousines and friends.

Yea I can understand that... Most of the reason I was really sad was because I wasn't able to talk to my friends like I wanted to. Its hard to talk to everyone when they live long distance from me. So the internet is the only way I can really talk to everyone at the same time and tell them all whats going on with me.

This happened to me a while back, when I had a virus in my computer. I'm in England, and I purchased my computer from Dell, because their after-sales service is great. However, they have a service group in Berkshire, England, but their main technical support is in Ireland. lol. This is the trend of things these days, I'm afraid. I initially phoned the Berkshire Branch, and was told that I needed technical support, so had to phone their branch in Ireland. This, I did, and they were very helpful, guiding me through various tests and such. The first call was made on a Thursday. Then, I had to phone back on the Friday, after various tests had failed, and after having purchased a reasonably priced gadget to download my photos onto disc. I did all that with their guidance, and then began the deconfiguration of my computer... but, the guy who was dealing with my problem, finished shift at nine o'clock that evening, and the office was closed at the weekend. So, I was without my computer from Wednesday evening until Monday evening... five days all told. Granted, I got some things done offline, which were outstanding, but I really missed my friends, and being able to check out various things, as you did. I wouldn't want to give up my online time for the World... I don't watch television, but I do like to get out for walks and a drink at the pub. Yet, I still come back and onto my computer in search of my friends, or to just wind down before bed, with some games. Brightest Blessings.

Oh I am very dependant on Internet! I guess you can say I am an Internet junkie! :P LOL I am on it almost on a daily basis. :) I was without Internet access for about a month around this time last year. I didn't actually go as crazy as I thought I would from not having it available, but at the same time when I got it back I was so happy! It was like I got my old friend back. :)

it would bother me if i didnt have the computer for a week or two but i'd still survive. there's always the tv and other things to do at home. alternatively i could always go out with friends and stuff. but i'll definitely be missing my computer and wish that i could use it back asap! ;)

I had an issue a while back where I had my left hand in a splint and my right hand was covered in second degree burns. I had internet access but had no way of typing to sign on to anywhere. I needed to find a plastic surgeon and I didn't have a phone book so I called a friend of mine and had her log on for me and find me the number for one. I still had to put the phone on speaker and dial the number with a pencil between my teeth because I couldn't hold anything. It was a nightmare. So I lived without hands for 2 weeks and that caused me more problems then ever being without the internet did. I dare anyone to try changing a diaper with their feet. LOL

LOL.. trust me I know how hard it is to go without two hands.. I had to do it for 6 weeks. I broke both my wrist and had cast on both arms up to my elbows. Lucky for me I was still a kid at the time cause do you know how embarassing it is to have to ask for help to wipe your butt after you go to the bathroom?

LOL Yes, as a matter of fact I do. It took one time of having to ask for help before I decided that burn or no burn I was going to suffer through the pain and with the help of some percoset and a couple of baby wipes I never had to live through that em-bare-assment again :)

I lost my cable TV and Internet connection for almost a week and it was boring. I caught up on my reading and spent a lot of time gabbing with my friends on the phone but I could still function and it did not cause a real problem in my life.

Well funny you should mention the phonebook cos if I didnt have the internet I would have to very quickly get on to the people that bring them and get one fast cos I use the internet frequently for this. I am sometimes away from my computer for a few days at a time and find myself regulary checking the emails on my phone to ensure that I am not missing out on anything important even although the only emails I get are junk or about online projects that I am working on. My friends have lost the reception on there television and have no internet and when over there the only thing we can think to do is read or go drink in the pub so through that they have become far more sociable so that is a good thing at least. I must say though that I love having the internet. I am one of these people that stay up quite easily in the early hours of the morn and spend my time working between a few online sites that make me moniey as well as organising all my referrals as I take a very active approach with them. So yeah I think that if I lost my internet even for a week I would be struggling and probably finding myself in the internet cafe often. It is amazing how much we take having all these modern facilities for granted.

Haha well Im a lot like you devilsangel. Its more so a problem with internet than TV. Without internet Im BORED AS HELL! Haha theres just about nothing to do without it.. I complain a lot to people to try to get on the internet when my computer is being fixed or if I am away from internet etc. I guess it depends how well Im enjoying myself too. For example, when I went to Hawaii it wasnt so bad not having internet because it was a vacation and we were there just to enjoy ourselves :)
