I have seen this infomercial for over a year now about a product called magic jack. If you haven't heard about it hears how it works. You pay $49.00 and get a small device which plugs into your usb port of your cable connected computer. You then plug in any phone...yes any phone (corded) and then VAMO...you have free incoming, outgoing, long distance, and international calling for 2 cents per minute. Crystal clear quality and it's so small it can easily be hooked up to a laptop (like mine) or desktop. Each aditional year of service is $19.99 and totally worth it. You have to have it hooked up to a computer with cable internet, 1.1 or 2.0 usb port, and 128 ram or more. I just wanted to pass on the review to all the myloters who may come to this post. If you have any questions, just ask, or follow the link below. http://www.magicjack.com/

Thanks. I have no idea what a halking broadband booster is, so hope I never need one! LOL My daughter in Toronto was thrilled to learn it was available in Canada. That should reduce her long distance a lot, since most of her family is in the States. You myLotters have come through again!

Wow, too bad I couldn't use it (dial up connection). However, isn't that VOIP if calls are only going through internet? 2cents a minute is really cheap for calls...do they bill you? How do you like the service so far? Pablo

I love it. We us it as our home phone, business line, and are very happy with it. I think you are correct about the VOIP thing, but it is explained exactly how it works (tech stuff) on the forum link I provided above if you want the skinny. The 2 cents per min is only for international calling (you have to prepay it), the rest of the calls (local, long distance, incoming or outgoing) are completely free. Well not completely, because you do pay $19.99 per year....thats less then $2 per month!!!! Frickin rad, I love it and I don't know how it's so cheap, but if you check out the links above, you'll see what I mean. I only had the two problems I mentioned above and fixed them with a halking internet booster (ebay - $40new) and now it is all good, and my connection speed, download speed, everything runs better and faster now that I added it. Hope that helps, OUT2WIN

Yes. And it works so very well. Go to http://www.magicjack.com/ and check out some of the media footage about it. Free incoming, free outgoing, free long distance, 2 cents per minute international calling. Thats whats so cool about it, there's no small print which screws you in the long run. Around $50 to get started, which includes your first year of service, and $20 per year after that. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
