What is the origin of your name? CANDACE,CANDICE Gender: Feminine Usage: English, Biblical (Variant) Pronounced: KAN-das, kan-DAY-see [key] From the hereditary title of the queens of Ethiopia, as mentioned in Acts in the New Testament. It is apparently derived from a Nubian word meaning "queen mother". In some versions of the Bible it is spelled Kandake, reflecting the Greek spelling ?a?da??. http://www.behindthename.com/
