I turned on my laptop this afternoon and it was doing some freaky things. It was black and then it wouldn't load Windows XP. Then it looked like the television set when it won't load a channel and it shows all sorts of colours on the screen. Really weird!! So I decided to take my battery out of my laptop and start it up again and it worked perfectly. Can batteries really do that? How long batteries last? Because I have had this battery for almost 5 years! I guess it lived a good life do you think?

Hey there is nothing to worry about and that is nowhere related to ur battery what happens basically sometime some static charge gets trapped on the motherboard of the system because of which the bios does not passes on the control to the OS and these strange things happen by removing battery and power adapter and battery you removed that static charge what more i would suggest you to do is reve them both in future if you have this issue and press and hold the power button on the laptop down for 1 minute with both adapter and battery out
