Virus on pc

I downloaded a virus program tonight and it jammed up the loading of the whole system to the point that i had to do a recovery. I was ill of all the information and games that i lost but that was ok. NOw i don't know if i want to download the virus program again. I worked so well that the viruses that were not being detected by another program cause they were things that were in the start up and i didn't know that they were there. but this program could not move because of what to do with those programs that had problems with them. I think i should try it now that the system is clean and ready to run.
