He is a great actor. The AMPAS would not give him two successive Oscars if he weren't. I am particularly impressed with his Academy Award-winning performance in Gladiator. He's one heck of an Australian! Though in his personal life, he is admittedly disliked by many, it is ultimately his acting talent that will see him through...

Couldn't agree with you more. I also try to separate an artist's personal life from his craft. Yeah, he's done some things that were wrong (as did Woody Allen and Roman Polanski) but that shouldn't influence his craft. I liked him in "Gladiator" but I'd say his best role was in "A Beautiful Mind". A complex, heartbreaking performance. I can't believe he didn't win an Oscar for it. It was certainly the best performace that I had seen from that year.

i agree with you! the first time i watched him is in "a beautiful mind" i liked him! so i rented his movies. i am so impressed!!

Everyone done things that are wrong in life. He just got caught and made it more public because he is a well known actor.
I loved him in "3:10 To Yuma". Russel Crowe's portrayal of the character Ben Wade was amazing. His preformance alone was worth the price of addmission.
