http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4392800.stm Here's the article. The basics are this, there are apparently so many elephants in this region, they are destroying the environment, and putting other species at risk. The government wants to cull the herds. This makes me very sad, as I read a book once that described how elephants live and feel. They have a real heirarchy, and if a member of the herd dies, they actually mourn, and feel pain. Can you imagine how they would feel if helicopters flew above them, and killed their herd mates. On the other hand, I don't want to risk all those other species. What is the answer?

I hate this sort of thing, man takes the land away from the animals then feels the animals have to be culled because they are too many for the land that is left, I know this is going to sound terrible but i get so angry when i think of these beautiful animals being culled, maybe just maybe we should cull people instead, or at least stop breeding so animals can have some land too... lilaclady steps off the soapbox.
