Remembering peoples' names

Yes I have similar experiences I am shocking at trying to remember people's names. It is really embarassing when you can't remember their name and you see them a few times and you are too ashamed to ask them again what is their name. Also it is bad for me as I am a Primary School teacher and it takes me along time to remember all the students names. The only way I can do it is put name tags on their desks for a couple of weeks. So it is a visual reminder for me everyday. Calling the role each day was not good enough to help me remember. Maybe if everyone in this world could walk around with badges that might help us, lol.

Oh I am TERRIBLE with that, too! I find I am getting a little better, but it still takes me a couple times to remember names. I started selling Avon just over a year ago and that really helped as I have no choice but to get it right...lol. We started going to a new church several months back and I met this wonderful woman who asked our names (mine and my two boys). Would you believe that the following week she remembered two of our names right off and knew what sound the third name started with...?! I have to admit it made me feel good that she remembered. She admitted she "practiced" all week...but I was impressed she remembered our names long enough to even recall anything to practice!! (Not to mention that she even cared enough to do so.)

don't worry, im horrable at remembering names its not that i don't pay attention, its just that i can't remember. i get so embarassed by it!

All the time! Sometimes I try to remind myself to say the name again, or repeat it to myself several times. If I remember to do that, I'm fine. If I don't, it doesn't stay in my head for as long as it took the person to say their name. I don't know why that is, but I understand its very common. Its not like I want to be rude, and I do want to get to know people, but the initial name thing is a killer.
