how many of us actually get up and let the elders sit in public transports?? how many of us stop by and help old people cross the roads or try help them in super markets and shops?? these things might sound simple and even silly , but yes they do make difference... old people need more love and care.. showing them little affection makes a lot difference in thier lives.. these are the people who held our hands wen we cudnt stand... and sooner or later we'll be in thier place too... if we cud make difference in nyones life with a little love then wat do we have to loose.. i wanted to request the youth to help the elderly people you see nywere by startin this discussion.. let god bless u all!!

I was just having this dicussion the other day with my boyfriend. We take public transportation quite a bit and I guess I should say that I am shocked at the way people younger then myself (under 40) do not have any respect for people who are handicapped, elderly or who are with children. We were taking a trip a few weeks ago the bus was crowded, not all the seats were taken unless you count there bags as passengers, but they made it impossible us to sit while riding,no one offered to move there bags, nor did they offer us a seat, we had to stand, the only one that offered me a seat was a child about the age of 8 and I thought it safer that she sit, than me. That sort of thing outrages me that they have no respect for others to offer up there seat for someone who is standing. I am not saying everyone is like that but it's been my experience that there are more that don't than do these days.

I respect the elderly people because they are the people that this country was built on. They hold up our standard and have lived by it. I worked at a nursing home and loved to listen to the story's that some of those special people told. I don't take public transportation but when I am in a car I stop when I see a elderly person waiting to cross the street. In the grocery store if I see a elderly person that needs help with their grocery's I will help out. It is not to much to ask that we help these people out. And yes as you said in your discussion one day we will be in their place.
