Wow am I addicted! Last night's episode (The Constant) may be the best episode yet. More than a warp in time, I believe this Island is the a junction point of all possibility given Desmond's new-found ability to consciously affect the past and indeed re-shape the future. My mind is reeling with theories and I'd love to hear what others are thinking. Any theories? Anyone?

The episode was absolutely one of the best in the whole lost series. I really can't say what a hell was going on with all that time travel because I am not an expert and I am not good in physics at school either. But I think that Desmond really traveled from one point in time to another with his mind. At first I thought it might be just something happening with his brain, but than when he actually made contact with Daniel than I knew he went back in time, but what caused it... I have no idea. Of course we know it is some kind of radiation or electromagnetism, but why does it cause it? Maybe we will get some answer in the next episodes.

I was thinking the same thing about the calendar. Sayid didn't seem at all phased when he saw the month and year on the calendar - which is contrary to what you'd expect if time takes places differently on the island. You would think he would be surprised that more time hadn't passed (since a couple of days on the island was the equivalent to a 30 minute helicopter ride back to the ship).

I was thinking the same thing about the time but then it was December of 2004 when Desmond called Penny. They got on the island Sept of 2004 so the time has been accurate. How they explain the Time perception thing being different is really going to be tricky, at least I think so. Also Faraday knew about Desmond since the notebook said he would be his constant, so does this mean he knew he was going to the island??? How did he know Desmond was there?? Really weird.

Thanks it sure was interesting! And though Desmond made a leap in time, that warp or bump in time is not limited to him as "a whole day" passed on the island when only 20 minutes had passed for Desmond and Sayid heading out to the boat. Apparently, time moves slower on the Island than elsewhere. (This would also explain why Will appeared so much taller to John.) I get the feeling that, while only about 4 months has passed for the survivors, it's been more like 4 years to the rest of the world. When the survivors are rescued, I think they will be shocked to learn what year it is!

Wow! Now that's great television. I agree with you that that might have been the best episode ever. And to think that the quality of the show is still so high and that their in their fourth season. Great stuff. I had to catch my breath after it was over. I think it's too early for me to think of theories and such though. I think I have to see it again. Although you're theory is quite interesting. So much information and mythology. Happy to hear you liked it so much. That seems to be the general concensus. Can't wait for next week's episode.

You are very wise to wait before tossing out any theories. After all, if only I had a nickle for all the times that I've been wrong, well then I could afford to buy Hurley lunch! :)

The last episode was so good! I thought it was the best show this season. The concept of time travel, and altering the value and perception of time reminded me of a Dharma film clip that was shown in an earlier season. The film showed a scientist with a rabbit, and all of a sudden the same rabbit appeared in the room (from another time line). I remember back then thinking that the island had some effect with time travel, and was reminded of this during the last episode. For anyone wanting to see the rabbit clip, here's the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gERdALb5vQ

Great eye! You're right--Sayid didn't exactly bat an eye when he saw the calender, adding yet another mystery to the puzzle. Awesome thanks to you too for sharing the video link! Somehow I had completely forgotten that scene! Did you also notice the hidden message in the video? It said "God loves you as He loved Jacob." J-J-Ja-JACOB?????? "Jacob" is also the leader of the others... W-o-w!

I loved this episode. I am with you and the others this has got to be one of the best episodes. BUT I am a Desmond fan so I might be biased. What I will say though is that at the end of every episode I usually have some kind of theory or answer or something like that.... But with this one I was left doing circles. Totally Lost. I love it. I can't wait to get some of the answers that we are looking for. So far what I have heard is that this season is all about getting off the island. Season 5 is about Getting back and Season 6 is what happens when they get back. :) Wish we didn't have to wait for the seasons and could just watch it all back to back like a really long movie.

Holy math, you're right! If Desmond called Penny in December 2004, then the time adds up correctly. There sure are a lot of inconsistencies with this story, eh? Even the fact that survivors on the Island can communicate in real time with people off the Island would seem impossible if indeed the time was passing at different speeds per location. By the way, I'm a Desmond fan too, Brothah! ;) Thanks for sharing your great ideas!
