Voting Green

I'm a huge Green Party supporter. They seem to be the only important party raising the right issues, proposing the right solutions, and not to mention the only group not sucked into illusion of change proposed by the Democratic party this election cycle. There is no difference between the Democratic and Republican parties. They may have different rhetoric but they're both controlled the influence of big industry. Are there any other supporters of the Nader/Gonzalez ticket?

I have a lot of respect for Nader but I think its more important to look at the big picture. I really think Nader played spoiler to Al Gore and could indirectly be responsible for George W. Bush's Presidency. I do agree with you just because someone is a Democrat doesn't mean they aren't in bed with corporate America as Hillary Clinton has recieved more PAC money than any Republican candidate in the primaries, I however think our best chance is Obama. Some people think he's all talk, but I think there's a very great chance that he is not, and he's 100 times better than McCain which would equal a 3rd Bush term.

Look at the facts before you blame Gore's loss on Nader. Nader only had 90,000 votes in Florida. There were over 200,000 REGISTERED DEMOCRATS who voted for Bush. Also, it's well known that Gore had more of the popular vote. Why didn't the democrats address this? Bills, which would have implemented an automatic run off system in elections where the "winning candidate" received less that 50% + 1 of the votes, were drafted and brought to the floor of both houses of congress and very few democrats supported these. When will we hold those in power responsible, and not blame those who raise the right issues?

You are naive if you think Nader 1. can win this upcoming election and 2.can't play a spoiler in this upcoming election. I'm not here to debate you about the 2000 elections, I think its pretty obvious to most people that Nader played spoiler to perhaps the Greenest President we could of ever had. Here is an excellent source who I'm sure would love to debate you on the Nader/Gore Effect: http://2act.org/p/33.html I'm much more concerned with 2008.

Voting isn't, at least to me, about winning. It's about choosing the candidate whom is believed by you, personally, not the party you're affiliated with, to be the most representative of your ideals. Don't worry, my voting Green wont affect the election. The people cant be crazy enough to vote for McCain this time, no matter what. I just think it's my political duty to spread the message I support. It's not naivety, I believe it's called patriotism--the kind James Madison and Thomas Jefferson wrote about. A type of patriotism the country needs to rediscover. But 9/11 Patriotism seems to be more popular.
