Did you break the cycle, or continue it?

If you were raised by at least 1 alcoholic or drug addicted parent, did you break that cycle, or continue it when you married? I am the daughter of a (now) recovering alcoholic father. When I decided to get married, I chose NOT to marry someone who was also an alcholic.. when my husband started to show signs.. I told him to choose, either the alcohol or his family.. Luckily for us.. he chose his family. My children, and hopefully grandchildren will never have to suffer the affects of alcholism. How about you?
