My daughter who is 2 years old is a bad eater. She is very choosy and likes only few foods. She likes curd rice very much, and also likes biscuits. At birth she weighed 2.1kg and still she is under weight. what I should do to make her eat well. Last night her nose was bleeding like any thing. I took ice cubes wrapped them in a cloth and rubbed on her nose. Why the nose bleeds?

The most important thing is don't force her. It is normal for children at this age to be picky eaters. It is also normal for them to not want to try new foods. Just continue to offer her a variety of healthy foods. If she refuses, don't push the issue. You could try letting her get involved in preparing the food. Let her help mix ingredients, set the table, choose what to have- from a couple of things you want. For example, what vegetable with dinner tonight- carrots or peas. Let her decide. It will help her feel involved and important. Let her help make the choices while shopping for food too. Being involved may make her more likely to try the food. If you feel like she is not getting enough, talk with her doctor about a vitamin supplement. If she needs to put on weight, you could add calories to the foods she likes, like putting butter on her biscuits. This stage will pass. If you don't make a big deal over it and try to force her, she will start eating well sooner. If you do push, it turns into a power struggle and she will win. The nose bleeds could be because the air is very dry. Do you have a vaporizer you can put in her room while she sleeps? That could help.

Thanks a lot Sillychick. Now much of my tension has gone. Some times we were forcing her to eat. Now I have come to know how and what to feed her. and I will follow this.
