I've had some pretty sad and depressing posts to make of late, so I think it's time we lightened up a little, with a fun debate. I love listening to music and there are a few that make me just itch to get up and dance. Among the artists who can do this are Buster Bloodvessel, of Bad Manners, and Madness. They're both fun bands and I especially feel the need to dance to Special Brew, by Bad Manners,... hear it here - you may have to click the "Play" button: http://www.tsrocks.com/s/skankin_pickle_texts/special_brew.html I love this one because it gets faster and faster at the end... then when you're worn out from dancing, it slows right down again with the sound of sax, and a quick burst at the very end. A great, fun song which always gets me dancing. I like his "My Girl Lollipop" too. One of the kids brings a CD of theirs into the pub, because he knows it gets me jiggling around. lol. The other, a Madness Song, is Baggy Trousers. I love Suggs... he's a fool, but he produces some great, fun songs. So, what's your favourite "Get Up and Dance" Song? Is it Pop, is it Regae, YMCA, Rock and Roll... don't be shy! Let's hear it! :)

Yes, Bad Manners and Madness are British Bands, but I would have thought they would have spread to the States. Buster is a comedian... he makes me laugh, but sings well at the same time. xxx

Ha ha ha... it's reggae! That one wasn't by the original artist... in fact, there are some by Bad Manners on You Tube, but none of the Special Brew ones are too good. Here's another by the guy himself though... Buster Bloodvessel... great fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_N1qQZL550&feature=related I think you'll enjoy this, my friend! xxx

Yeah, the twist was good and the March of the Mods... remember that? ha ha ha. I'm going back a few years now! Just a snippet... often, at parties, the DJs used to play the Can-Can... I used to join in that and even do the splits at the end until my brother-in-law's 40th, when I did the splits at the end and caught my foot on the metal edging around the dance floor area... that ruined me for life... I tore a hamstring. Ouch!!! No more Can-Can for me, I'm afraid! I'm like you now... once I get down, there's no getting up again... I'm there for the week! ha ha ha Brightest Blessings and thank you for your input, my friend. xxx

Good... Spring is here! We need to talk about something a little less dreary than what we've been dealing with of late. It's time to kick off our shoes and have a good old time, don't you think? I used to have to get my shoes off for Chubby Checker, ha ha ha. That's where it stopped though! tut tut! :) xxx

There has been some great music over all the eras and they keep on coming. There are so many that it is hard to single out a favourite but i tend to listen to the fifties and sixties eras a lot as I think they tend to stick in the mind from all those early begginings. Blessings to you my friend.

I wasn't too keen on the 50s but 60s and 70s, yes. Bad Manners and Madness were probably popular from the late 70s through the 80s. I liked Elvis, but wasn't so keen on his 50s records, more the later ones. Love Me Tender and Heartbreak Hotel did nothing for me, my friend! :) I was more into songs like, "I Believe" and "Don't Cry Daddy". He certainly made some great records. We have the juke box back in the pub now, so we often put on some of those oldies and have a good old sing along. :) Thank you for your input and Brightest Blessings my dear friend. x

"I love you, yes I do cause I know that you love me too" EXCELLENT! Hadn't heard this song for years, love it! Thanks for the reminder, can't stop replaying it now! Except it's not the original version but by someone called Shankin Pickle LOL! I loved My Girl Lollipop too and Baggy Trousers; thanks for some excellent reminders there of days gone by! I can't say that I have any particular songs that make me want to get up and dance but there are quite a few that make me want to sing along at the top of my voice such as: You To Me Are Everything by The Real Thing, Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison and more recently Lily Allen's Smile.

While I barely dance (I don't consider Pump it Up! the real deal), there are songs I listen to that can get me active. Kuchiburu Daydream for example. And yes Darkwing you are right, it seems a bit strained in mylot. I've been hit or miss on my weekend threads and I've not had a fun thread in awhile (sad if its hard to think of fun threads eh?). Anyways, I'll come up with something by the weekend. Its been too glum, we need more chum and cheer.

Attagirl! We don't have to be glum all the time. We have the capability to do something about it, my friend. Please do think of something humorous, or light. It would be a nice change. We need to get out of the Winter gloom and get on with Spring! There's something to celebrate at least. It's 6.00 a.m. here in the U.K. right now. The birds are singing, and the morning light is creeping up over the church. A brand new day... let's make it a happy-go-lucky one! Brightest Blessings, my friend and thank you for your input.

Awwwww... I hope you can soon, too, my friend. There's nothing like a good old sing and dance to get one's spirits up, but unfortunately, you have to do things the other way round. Still, want it enough, and you'll get there sooner, I feel. Then, there'll be no holding you back, and in the meantime, you can always jiggle your wheelchair around. I'll tell you a little uplifting story here. There's a guy in Burgess Hill who's been disabled all his life, and in a wheelchair. He loves pool and snooker and travels around to all the matches... even tries to play from his wheelchair. Well, the kids talked me to going to a nightclub in Burgess Hill one night, and this guy was there. We were chatting, and he told me he loves me, because I'm like his Mum. ha ha ha. Anyway, he asked me if I wanted to dance, and without thinking, I said yes, went onto the dance floor and took a hold of the arms of his chair and danced him about with my movements. He thoroughly enjoyed it... he accepts his disability and is always smiling and enjoying life. That happiness at dancing rubbed off, and several people came, one at a time, and took him over as a partner, so there's a way to every goal, my friend. I'll leave you with that thought. Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings. xxxxx

Bad Manners what a band, I went to see them just before christmas and it was fantastic. Buster looks healthier now, he's still fat but no where near how he was in the 80's. I love 'special brew' and of course 'lorraine' and yes he still does the can can. For dancing it has to be either ska or rock, as I love both kinds of music.

Yeah, great aren't they? You were lucky to get to see them so recently. Buster apparently lost eighteen stones... it's difficult to imagine what he was like before now, without looking at old pictures. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.
