In fact this has been a bitter experience. i was introduced to this gentleman who we came good friends and had helped me many ways. when i came to china at first and was without a job. he helped me to find a part time job. he has been so good. however, when we purchase some items and i demand a receipt he tells me they can't give me one. i couldn't imagine why so? i asked him why they can't give me a receipt? this happened when we went to a clinic for injection. Then i asked to help me buy a laptop since he has some knowledge in them. we was one HP and when we asked for one to purchase, the seller brought one to us but he said it was opened meaning it has been used before. so it was returned and i gave him the money as they told us new arrival will get there on a wednesday and i had to be at post. He bought it and when i asked of the receipt he told me i should not worry about it. i asked how can i complain if it has a fault then and the waranty card too not signed. he told me i should not worry at all and lo and behold the computer developed a fault, as some of you would have seen my complaint at mylot here. i wanted it changed but rather changed the keyboard. i tried to get the waranty signed and the receipt but to no avail. i looked at the past deeds and just allowed it.(let bygones be bygones) Now i want to deal in electronic business, started with phones. he led me and we bought some phones, posted them to my brother in Ghana and he sold, sent back the money and he asked me to send him the money that the phones seller is in another city. so i did sent the money, he bought the phones and again i asked for the receipt and he said he didn't get one. i asked why? why? he said he'll get it for me. when he posted the phones they're held in customs with given reason that they're copied phones. i asked him, why did you buy copied phones for me and now i've invested in them with my last penny. he couldn't give me any explanation and when i got the receipt by an e-mail it was given in the same town he lives and told me the person doesn't live there. Now i've be fighting hard to retrieve the phones since 6th November,2007. when they phones were posted. can i continue to trust such a friend? if you're in my shoe, what will be your reaction? In fact, i told another friend who bought the phones with me and we posted the his have gotten to their destination but mine withheld by the china customs. i'm confused and perplexed. my bro. keep on calling me guys are worrying him of the phones since he promised them another consignment on the way. and i have to save money in order to begin. how would you advice me? thanks for any good idea.

Hello fredgame. I would not trust such a friend as you have described if he is not that trustful. There is one thing that I would like to say, which is, it would be cheaper if you buy something without asking for the receipts because the seller would not have to pay that much tax. This could be the reason why you do not get the receipts. But may I ask if you got those things cheaper without the receipts, please? Thanks.

In fact, when we went to the retail shops the prices there were higher but he claims he sold to me at a wholesale price. After this incident i went to another city when the wholesale shops are and the prices there are much cheaper than what he gave me. so i was skeptic about his frankness to me. He himself has opted out to lead me to do any kind of business just as i've decided not to consider him or take his advice.

All I can tell you... is that you are a very slow learner. What will it take for you to realise that you are dealing with a gangster? He is selling you stolen goods... that's why he don't give you a receipt. Stop dealing with that guy... otherwise you will end up in jail or with a knife in your back. You are obviously very naive and he is exploiting you. Nothing much you can do about it now. Better forget about him and walk away. If you try to attack him... he will hurt you. You don't have the resources to defend yourself against him. I hope you did learn something from this. But not yet by the sound of it...

Thank you for the advice. i've heard you loud and clear. i've already decided not to let him help me in anyway.
