Dial-up is slow

I live in an area that only had dial-up connection to the internet and everything is slow. When it comes to downloading music and programs or software it's real slow. If i just search it's not to bad. But the wireless net is to exspensive and i can't afford them. I can't be on the net and the phone at the same time i was told that a phone filter would work. I have tried dial-up boost programs and none of them work. Any suggestions
