for those who have seen a good movie and could't help finding, reading and comparing the book with the movie, and vice-versa, what's the best movie based on a novel? when i say "the best" i mean whatever you want to be: the story is the same or not, the feelings you felt both times were the same or not...whatever your opinion is...

I'd say the best movie based on a book for me would be "Forrest Gump", because the movie was so much more then the book. The book wasn't bad, but nothing compared to the movie. One of the few times I can actually say the movie was better then the book.

The best for me are the Bourne movies. I have read some other books of Robert Ludlum, the author of The Bourne movies and it's as if I'm watching a movie while reading. So nice. They say the movie eliminated and put more scenes than the book but totally like it anyway.. Great.

I think Lord of the Rings is the best movie has been made that was made from a book. The books that tell the story of Lord of the rings are very good in thier own right. However, the movie brings the writen words to life. I think the script was made as close as possible to the books. I also feel the characters are just the way they were in the books. With books you can only immagine what the land would look like or even the characters. With the movie it actually showed you what those character may have looked like. The movie Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed at the same time. Three movies back to back to keep it true to form. The movies being shot this way alowed them to make changes to the first movie because something was wrong in the second. Making the three movies all at once also allowed for the actors to stay the same through the whole story. Even though there were three parts to Lord of the Rings it was all created at once and I think that is what allowed the creators to keep it true to the book. The books are very interesting in their own rights and the movie just increases the enjoyment of the story. Take the Harry Potter books they are very well writen and very enjoyable. However, the movies for these books are being made with lots of time in between. This means that the actor who plays Harry is getting older but the Harry in the story is not. I am afraid that by the time they make Harry Potter seven there will be a new set of actors playing the parts. It is hard as it is trying to hit all the important story lines into an hour and a half movie without having to worry about casting as well. I also think that there is a lot missing from the Harry Potter movies that were important in the book and should have made it into the movie but did not. The movies are good on their own and have great entertainment value but they do differ from the books more than I think is needed.
