Do you read the reviews before buying a toy, carseat....etc

I'm the type of person that when I buy clothes I just grab my size and don't even try it on. When I buy something I just grab it and go. But when it comes into buying something for my child, oh my god. I spend a day researching a product, reading the reviews looking for alternatives. Sometimes I get frustrated it but I want my son to enjoy what I'm going to buy him and I want safety first. Do other mothers do this, do you spend hours in the store reading the back of a product or in the internet reading reviews?
