yup my daughter got that scam call last night aobut the rebate checks that IRS is to send out.! FIrst off haad bad connection the line went dead. so she hung up. the call came again .Same feller with a foriegn accent! As the talk went she was saying ok to every thing . HE was telling her she was getting $2500 and just kept telling her things and she would say ok to all this went on about 10 min. Then he asked for name of bank where she would cash her check. She told him at the casino close by. Then she had to spell casino for him!? Flags really up now lol and he was getting really excited talking faster and faster telling her aoubt the paper work they had to fill out and al that to get teh check to her . Then came the we now need your routing no. to your bank. SHe told him she didnt give out that info over the phone and as he waas at the IRS he sould have all that info any how. He went thru her name address and all again then again asked for routing no. SHe again told him she didnt give that out over the phone,Oh he tried every thing to get it we finally got tired of playing with him so she hit the No. 9 several times and hung up. No call came back,

Good for her! She made him work his butt off for nothing. he he he. She probably saved some other poor unsuspecting soul from his scam as well, by keeping him on the phone. Great Job, my friend. Brightest Blessings.xxx

I hope nobody else fell for it either, but then not everybody is aware of what these calls are geared up to do.

That is too funny! Good for your daugher. My hubby also often plays little games with scammers on the phone. Getting them all excited thinking that they have hit 'paydirt' and then he lets them down the same way by refusing info and telling them that if they are really 'so and so' than they should have that info anyways. Me, I don't have time or patience for scammers and usually let them eat the answering machine, or when they catch me off guard, I am one of those 'rude people' that hangs up on them!

Hi... Sounds like Linda had fun...and held her ground at the same time. They sure are annoying and persistent. They have an uncanny knack of calling at the most inappropriate times too. Good to know you and your daughter know how to beat them at their own game. Good one! Raia

I love playing with e mail scammers , but getting them on the phone is a bit creepy. My favourites are those nice Nigerian guys that routinely tell me that either I have won a vast amount of money, or that I sound just the sort of guy that could help them look after a few million whilst they get out of the country. Sometimes I reply, to the address that they give, and say that I would be delighted to help, but I shall need $1000 to cover my expenses. They never want to reply for some reason.
