Being turned down for a job because.....

This sparked out of another discussion I just seen today and it brought to mind about a job that I applied for and didn't get due to being single. At the time I didn't know it was illegal that they could determine your employment status on whether or not you are married. I've thought about going and reapplying for the job to see if they say the same thing. This job is dealing with handicapped people. Something I've always wanted to do because I don't like working in hospitals and I got burnt out on nursing home jobs. Any ideas or suggestions? Why would someone need to be married to have a job?

i really dont know why they have to turned you down just because you are single. i know jobs that turned out people who are married but single, this is my first time to heard that. i am so sorry that they turned you down. specially on a job you really like to have and know that will be good on doing it.

I think that is discrimantion to being turn down just because you are single. I would probably try to reapply and see if the reason why you have been turn down is really for being single. And if yes, i would do something about it, becuase i don't think is legal.

Wow I don't think being turned down for a job just because you are single.. is a very good reason at all. I think people should be able to work.. no matter what their marital status is.
