It is good practice is you plan to create a profession out of it otherwise it is fun to do with your spare time.

Oh man, I started designing houses when I was 3. I have always loved it. I have actually had 2 of my plans built. I would love to get into a career with that, but I am married with 2 kids, and we can't afford to have me go to college for years to be able to work in that field. I have a couple of home design programs. i love them. It's SO cool how you can walk throughout the homes and actually know exactly what they would look like if they were built.
