Do you give a smile to everyone? Even if you know them not?

One great guru said, "the highest sense of humanity isn't being famous or known nor serving the people greatly but how you challenge and fulfill yourself by making others smile." Do you smile at everyone even if you know them not? What for you is the essence of doing so? Thanks for your responses. Spread more love! Smiles.

No, I don't. Sometimes you just make a fool of yourself by smiling to people who obviously don't deserve it. You smile and nothing comes back. However making people smile sounds nice. I wouldn't do that by smiling though. A smile is worthless. Especially to women. They expect real things. To inspire the better part of people is very noble. But I live through this everyday; I've had a habit of greeting merchants every time when I enter their store and saying goodbye as I leave. I've been doing this for such a long time, and you know what? Nobody cares. Very few of them do. Just like talking to a wall. Why should I keep doing that? I like your quote; it says make others smile. And I've realized the only thing we can do in this world is to earn the love of others. But I think we should do real things to make people smile. Whereas our smile CAN be real and sincere, oftentimes people don't know the value of that. The biggest mistake we can make is to think other people see the world exactly like we do. People see the world like they want to see. A smile can mean so many different things for other people, and not all meanings may be good. A woman may simply want to take advantage of you assuming an innocent smile is meant as something else.

I try and smile at everyone I see. Usually they smile back. this is good for the soul and if I've lifted even one person's spirits I'm happy;

I like how you put it, "good for the soul." Lifting one's spirit. That's more than awesome. Thanks!

i actually do. i find myself sometimes smiling to strangers in malls, in mrt trains... i guess im just a very smiling person and have a positive outlook. i do not like to frown and people might think i am not having a good day if i dont smile. hehe of course i do not keep my smile all the time. if i need to just be serious, i am. :)

When I use to walk the bike trails I would always smile at those who ran or walked passed me and they would smile back at me too. I got use to seeing a few of the same people each morning and it was actually nice when it started off as a nod, then the next few days it would became a smile, and then maybe a week later I end up saying "Morning" and smiling at the same time. Makes me feel good when others acknowledge you when you smile at them first.

I would have to say yes, I do. I smile quite a bit. If there is a day that I don't spend half the time smiling, there is something really wrong. Or I'm really really tired.

Even though I smile a lot I cannot say that it is shared with everyone. There are some persons who just attract a natural smile and others who sort of cause a smile to freeze up. There are times when a light nod of the head and a pleasant featuer takes the place of a smile.

I try to smile, but I don't always succeed. I find the hardest part is making myself feel good when I don't. If I am unhappy or angry, it is very hard to smile. When I see someone on the street, I do tend to smile unless it is someone I really don't like. But if it is someone I don't know, I smile unless I am in a very bad mood.

i think smiling is one of my reflexes.. i always smile even to strangers because i believe in this saying; " give a stranger one of your smiles, it might be the only sunshine he sees all day" for one simply smile makes a difference :-)
