Mine is when my mom passed away as well. It was bittersweet though because she was very ill and elderly.

The saddest moments in my life were when my Mom and my Grandfather passed away. I'm so sorry you've lost your Mom too! My Mom passed away in 1986...it seems like only yesterday I was talking to her on the phone over some trivial thing and then she was gone.

When my Dad, my Mum and the most important man in my life passed away all in a short amount of time, I thought my life was slowly slipping away from me and there was nothing I could do about it....

I am really sorry to hear that balasri. My saddest moment was when my grand mother passed away 2 years back. She breathed her last holding my hand and I could not really believed that she was no more! It was terrible and I am still unable to recover from the demise. May be, time will help me.

In my experience time is the one and only healer. Though not completely.

I have three that are equally the saddest moments in my life: when my late hubby, my dad, & my sister passed away.

Well of course mom & dad. But my late husband passed away like a half hour before I was due to get off of work. I rushed to the hospital, only to say goodbye. I'm glad though that I had the chance eariler in the day to talk to hin, and to say I love you.

Yes, for me too it was the same moment as yours , so i can understand very well what you under went as i was also very close to my mother and once that phase of my life came i really understood what saddness was, and there after anything that now happens in my life, i dont think is sadder than that moment for me too. I also lost my mother a few years back, due to cancer and saw her suffer right in front of my eyes, and am glad that the suffering was not as much as the normal cancer patients under go. She had cancer of the lungs and we all were rather shocked as shes never smoked nor anything of the kind, and the doctors wondered as well as to what could have happened to her, how she got it. And i have yet to see such a brave and positive lady as she was the one who used to give all of us courage instead, and used to tell us always to remain positive all the time too. She underwent chemotherapy and did not ever whine at anything nor any pain that she had, would ever come to be even known to us, its amazing how she managed that. As am sure that they all under go pain, but few are able to bear it up. Her end was smooth as she passed away after suffering from cardiac arrest and it was the tail end of her cancer life too , as after that she would have started the real suffering due to which the patients deterioate too. But some how for me, she never left me, and till date i feel her beside me, as my guiding light, as shes beside me in my ups and downs and i can sense and feel her with me always. Yes, physically shes not there, and i miss her talks and everything a lot but when i close my eyes and rethink of her, i find her with me, and i would suggest maybe you also try that, as those who are close to us, never leave our side .

I like to dedicate this quote to you. "The mother is everything?she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness. He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly." Kahlil Gibran

Thanks so much for those lovely words and very truly said, that a mother means the world to us. And for me, somehow i just need to sit quietly in a place, close my eyes, and i find her with me, beside me , comforting me, giding me, and i feel i am truly blessed to have her with me. Have a nice day :)
