I didn't get a large response when I started a similar discussion about this wonderful product. What I'm talking about is magic jack. Its on infomercials late night and what it does is beyond most people's belief, but I bought it about a month ago, and it works crystal clear, and I only pay $20 per year for full phone service. $50 to get started which buys the small magic jack usb plug in, and gives you 1 year of service. You plug it in to your usb port (1.1 or 2.0) and then plug any corded phone into the plug in the magic jack and it auto loads, you pick your area code, set up your account through your email address, and thats it. Heres what you get: Free incoming, Free outgoing, Free long distance calling (in and out), and international calling at 2 cents per minute (prepaid). Your computer has to be cable hooked up, and must be on or on standby for you to receive or make calls.
