I would like to start a discussion on the rate magician should charge What is the acceptable amount you / or a company will likely to pay to hire a professional magician for their events or annual dinner? What are the amount you guys willing to pay for a close up magic show in parties, clubs installation ,birthdays, grand opening, open house ..etc?

I know that top magicians, the ones that are well-known, charge around ten thousand at the minimum for a private performance.

I have been a hobbyist magician for about 14 years, and a performing magician for 3... (performed walk-around magic at a franchise restaurant). My rate for an hour at the restaurant was only about $60, but that was considered a "discount" since the establishment hired me at least twice a week, on a on-going basis. When I am hired for a private gig, which usually involved strolling gigs at a wedding reception, corporate cocktail parties etc... My rate was about $200~$250/hr. I know some professionals (no big names, but those who do this full time) will charge about $450 to upwards of thousands per hour, and they even have minimum 3-hour charge. Oh and by the way, the rates I am talking about is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada:)
