what would it be like if the people disappeared from the planet

I was watching a show last night that showed what would happen if people just disappeared for the planet. The only life that was left were animals. There were some thing that tripped me out. That the nuclear plants and other waste planet would release toxic gases into the air and how the planet would die. That was really interesting.
