Win at home to win the world

My mom always used to tell me to win the hearts of people whom you know well to win the world, that is to be good to the world outside. When you are not good to your family members and maintain a good relationship with them, there is no use being good to people who do not know you at all. What do you say?

very true ... but what i have felt is that people be nice and talk nice to people outside and give respect to people outside more readily than to their own family.... However being nice to people is always good but we must learn to start it from home and then outside . then it becomes a habit...

I think what your Mom says is absolutely true. when you respect other members in your family, talk to them politely only then you will be able to maintain good relations with others outside. its about habit and you can not change your behaviour outside if you behave badly at home.
