when my son was 5 months old he got really sick and they put him on alot of different meds, plus a breathing machine. they told me he had asthma. i was so upset he was so sick. they said he would grow out of it as he got older. for the past year he hasn't been sick. the doctor said he had grown out of it. i was so happy, but this morning i woke up to him coughing that nasty cough and breathing hard. it was so upsetting i thought he had grown out of it but i guess not. so i got his breathing machine out and we did that. i was wondering though if any of your kids or you had this and if they really did grow out of it? if so at what age?

i know someone's whose child have had asthma when she was younger. the doctor said to always bring her to seaside and let her (the kid) smell the air every morning. and that is what they did. she is 7 years old now and actually she has grown out of it already. they said its easier to cure asthma in children.

i hope he does soon he was 5 months when they told me and he is now 3 almost 4. i really hope he will grow out of it cuz he's very active and loves sports. we have meds for it but its a pain for him. when we go to like the park and they get really runing around we have to stop him and make him sit for awhile and he just don't understand why. if we don't he will get sick.

Both of my sons have "childhood asthma". My youngest has "reactive airway disease". My oldest (who is 3) has pretty much gotten it under control already and hasn't had to have a nebulizer treatment since he was 1 1/2. My youngest, who is 19 months, still has it BAD. He has to have the breathing treatment every 4 hours and a steroid at night before bed. PLUS he has an emergency inhaler. I was actually wondering the same thing you were. I hope it ends soon!! For you and me both!! :(

my son is now almost 4 and it has gottin better but not as good as i would like. by that i mean GONE! my son has all the same things and he does really well with them, witch surprise people to see him sit and do it but sense he was 5 months old it has been something he has had to do. the emergency inhaler is nice to have thats for sure. i have had 3 doctor tell me he will grow out of it but i had a 4th tell me he will always have it but it would get better so that it would be as bad. so what is it? i really don't think they know. its just so hard watching them go through it.

some kids have it, you have to keep your house dust free, and stress will bring on an asthma attack as well.

I took my baby son to the doctors a while age as he was wheezing and i thought he had asthma. The doc gave me some medicine and said alot of young babies/children have it and they usually grow out of it by the age of 5.
