It's simply amazing how a person's character and motivation can spur him to "swim against strong currents" and yet triumph. Such displays of incredible character should be lauded, and Patch Adams is one such person. Based on a touching true story, Academy Award winner Robin Williams plays the character Patch Adams, a doctor who strongly believes in "laughter as the best medicine". Patch's unorthodox healing method almost cost him his career, with his medical faculty advisor criticizing him for his jovial self and asking him to be a clown instead of a doctor. Patch Adams portrays the incredible spirit of individualism and triumph of one's idealism over rigid systems. Wearing bright floral shirts to work (in hospitals), dressing up as clowns to cheer patients up and ease their anxiety, this passionate doctor sets out his own style of healing patients. Through his strong belief and passion, he eventually won over the hearts of many... Have you met people of such incredible character, passion, perseverance and whose outlook towards life is so contagious? Do share with the world, for such people deserve praise and recognition! =)
