I have not been in one but the thought of going undergound makes me feel clostophobic. I would not like to go underground as I would feel suffocated, I would be worried about walls and ceiling caving in on me and cage that takes you down breaking. How about you have you experienced going undergound in a mine before? What was it like?

I went into the Kheora Salt Mountain in mines in Pakistan ... to be honest ... it was great ... they had made it special by making large halls inside the mountains and lakes and artifacts out of Salt rocks ... hell there was also a wall of love that you lick in order to get a good wife in life =D ... I think it was an experience worth having ... you should try it too *thumbs up*

Ha Ha ... since you are so interested ... I decided to do a little research and get you some pictures/info about the salt mine ... I am sure you will love it ... check them out ... and tell me what you think ?? http://pakistaniat.com/2007/06/14/khewra-salt-mines-of-pakistan/ oh by the way ... I think that the wall of love answers the call of both men and women ... so sure ... lick away =p ... the wall is made up of 99.9% pure salt ... so th lick might turn out to be really salty

When I was a child I was taken to an underground mine by my Uncle who worked there,it was a coal mine in Thurnscoe ..near Rotherham,Yorkshire UK. All I can remember was being terribly scared,it was totally unknown territory to me.There would be a total state of panic if I had to go down the shaft myself in the cage..the feeling of sinking into the bowels of the earth is terrifying to me.

Your vivid description, sinking into the bowels of the earth, gives me the shivers, lol. It would be scarier as a child then an adult in an underground mine. Thanks for your response.

I've been in caves underground and it was really neat. The mine thing --I wouldn't like. We went into a simulated mine at a Science Museum in Arkansas and it was just a little bit too small for me. The space is small, tunnels are small and it really got to me--and this wasn't even the real thing! I like space and light..haha.

Hi Karen, yes space and light are good things. Dark and confined spaces are scary, lol. Thanks for your response.

Yes, I have and I loved it. I have also been to Ruby Falls (in Tennessee). If I remember right, it's over 1000 feet down. The falls are underground and about 100-200 feet high. I have vertigo, so going up bothers me worse than going down. The only time I feel claustrophobic is when I am surrounded by people. Funny, huh? lol

Claustrophobic of people, lol, you are funny. 1000 feet down, gee I would be sick going underground that far. Thanks for your response, found it very interesting.

i've been underground and it was not scary at all. didn't feel any worse than being in my basement apartment, lol... it was kinda cool because it is a tourist attraction that shows you the different stages of development of mining. my dad was a miner so it was cool to see what kind of work he did.

I have never been in an underground mine. But that does sound like some fun. I mean it sounds dangerous but fun, I'd like to go in a cave or mine..and see what's down there...

Hi, Neecomp, I guess it would be fun for some people, if you are not claustrophobic, thanks for your repsonse.
