Children fishing in a boat by themselves.

If your children had never been fishing in a boat before, would you let them go by themselves?
Tragic Story 2 teens one 16 the other 13 (maybe 12) went fishing last weekend. It was their first time fishing in a boat and they were by themselves. No supervision at all!!! After searching for over a week, they found the body of one and are still looking for the other boy's body.
They said when they found the empty boat, they found the boy's shoes, so that tells me they did something stupid like swimming or something and that was not cool!!
I would NEVER allow my kids to do anything like that by themselves, because anything can happen. I feel so terrible for the mother, yet I wonder why she let them go by themselves. Did she even know they were going to use a boat! Such a sad situation.

That is tragic. I wouldn't let my kids go fishing alone either. I would of made sure there was an adult with them at all times. This is soooo sad!

hi 'orchid what sad story, i would never of let my child or teen go fishing at that age on their own-for the simple reason of the tragic outcome of those little boys i do feel for the mother though she must feel so bsd for letting them do that on their own-maybe she thought the 16yr old was responsible enough--or would the 16yr old of taken the boat out on his own with the other boy without their mum knowing-so sad littleowl
