Mine is Pan the Flute Player, the reasons why are way too long to list. Look into the stories of Pan and just how important he was to humanity, if you want to!!

Heh, this discussion made me smile, because those "mythological characters" include the deities I actually worship. As such, of course I'm going to say my primary Goddess, the Morrigan. Of course I have personal reasons for liking her, but looking at the mythology itself what interests me is her many-faceted nature. She's largely seen as a war deity but she is also a Goddess of sovereignty, fertility, and defensive measures as opposed to just the "kill everyone" deity a lot of modern people would see her as. Plus, she's a shapeshifter, and plays some fun mind-games.

This is a hard question for me. I like Zues he is the father of all gods and the head man himself. He is credited for keeping all the gods in line. Zues rules Mount Olypus where all the gods live and play. He rules with his mighty thunderbolts. He is a very lusty man though. He is said to change into different things when in persuit of a young maiden. The God of old Greece as well as Rome are seen today in the Wiccan religon I believe. I am not totally sure of their beliefs but I have heard that they refer to Aphrodite. I am not sure I spelled that right. I do not see any problem with worthiping what ever god or gods you choose. I believe that the Gods and Myths were created to help give people something to believe in . There are tons of gods and goddesses that you see surface in religons all the time. I think that in myths and legends you will find a bit of truth. The main point I guess I am trying to say is a belief in anything is better than a belief in nothing. We all need something to believe in.
