I have hair extensions and have had for a few years-the reason being my hair just wouldn't grow and i wanted it long! Though i have had them for a few years they have done no damage to my own hair quite the opposite-having a problem with my scalp (which my hairdresser knows about)in having the extensions has actually cleared it up! They also have given me a new found confidence and positiveness in myself, and helped me feel good about myself eg; like when you have a new hair cut or dye your hair--so has anyone else got or had hair extensions? please share your experiences and what you think...

AS you know, I have had hair extensions only got them out a month ago. You can see in my avatar, me with hair extensions. I loved having them, it gave me great confidence like yourself. However after 5 months, the hair extensions felt ratty and also they were starting to knot up the top before the bonds, I was worried I might start growing dreadlocks up the top and have to get all my hair chopped off lol. I had no problems with them damaging my hair. I am glad that hair extensions have helped clear up problems with your scalp, who would have thought. That is a bonus. ARe hair extensions expensive in the UK, they cost about $650 here, that was cheap. Some places charge up to $1000.

hi kiran can understand how extensions can knot up but i have a top up about every 3mnths which is when all the old which is nearly all of them are taken out and replaced that costs £60 here--but when you first have them done for a full head its £400 and for half a head its £250 am not sure what that is in US dollars but here the prices i have given you are the ones that most people charge-mind i do have to save up to have them done but its well worth it littleowl

hi kiran forgot to tell you the easiest way to get extensions out is by dowsing them with acetone ( nail polish remover) thats how salon hairdressers do it also conditioner--i do that every time i have mine out -the extensions then fall out or come off really effortlessly--think the acetone had something to do with helping my scalp too-weird eh? hope you had a good easter my dear friend littleowl

I have had hair extensions on numerous occasions and have truly loved my experience with them. The girl that I go and see is truly amazing about the whole thing. Mine takes about 6 - 8 hours depending and she makes the whole experience really worth it. I have seen others that she has done and I amd truly amazed with all of it. You would think that it would cause some sort of damage to ones hair but I for one is all for it. Mind you everyones hair is different and will react different to it.

Yes mine is real hair too and it really does look like my own hair. I love it. I am really looking forward to getting it done soon. Probably in a month before my fiance comes home to give my hair some new life.

Hi Littleowl, I have never personally had hair extensions but would love to try having them once as I think they look amazing. I am never been patient enough to allow my hair to grow so this would be an ideal solution. I end up getting frustrated with it once it about shoulder long and have it all cut short again. I am so pleased that you have extra confidence because of them cos as they say if you look good you feel good eh! Ellie :D

hi ellie-my hair was shoulder length but having extensions in actually makes it grow-where they are put on pulls at your root to make it grow-and no it doesn't hurt!-extensions can be put on if you have short hair or long-blessings littleowl

yes i have had hair extensions before and i like them it gives my hair a chance to rest from me brushing and combin it everyday and it gives it a rest from being washed very often too. i have gotten alot of compliments from it too. it does give a new self confidence and when u take them out and if your hair is at a length your comfortable with you can give your hair a rest from the extensions and then see how the compliments come rollin in then too.

Well I wanted extensions for my wedding because stupid me about a year ago cut my hair pretty short and it just wouldn't grow. Well 3 months before my wedding my hair stylist fried off 6-7 inchs of my hair when it had just started to grow. I had been researching extensions for a long time and had already planned on getting them... As soon as I walked out of the salon (in tears) I ordered my extensions. My boyfriend put them in and I love them! They look wonderful and no one can tell that they aren't my real hair. I feel like they have made my hair healthier. Mainly because I haven't put any heat on the hair that is holding the extensions in, just the extensions themselves. I like the mircolinks method. I did the strand by strand as well. I like this, but they seem to be real peicey and I'm going to do the weft method next time and maybe it'll look abit better. I'll be wearing extensions until my hair growns out. Which will probably bee 3-4 years :(. My boyfriend isn't happy about that because he knows he will be putting them in every 4 months and it takes about 4-6 hours.

Hi Angel'-for my wedding I wore a lovely wig as my hair was to shorrt that lasted for about 3mnths then I had extensions put in they have made my hair healthier also where I had excema of the scalp that has gone-which surprised me but now the extensions have only done my hair and head good..so wahtever anyone says against them I aways justify them. I have never heard of mircolinks before what are they like? I have mine glued in but they are 100% human hair too and like yourself I only have to brush them once i the morning as they always look lovely and I too will be having them in til my hair grows which will be about the same time as you!! Please let me know what mirolinks are-have added you to my friends list too-littleowl
