Hello dear peter. I think that we children have the duty to buy insurance for our parents to express our thanks to their bringing us up with so much money and time and energy. It is time for us to take care of our parents when we are able to support ourselves. I do give my parents money without their asking me for it. Besides, if we buy health insurance for our parents, it will benefit both parties so far as the medication expense is concerned. To buy insurance for one year is not that expensive. I don't think that this friend of yours cannot afford it if he is willing to. I know this because I pay for this every year. Thanks.

We pay for this insurance once a year and it is only around 1000 RMB, cheap huh? But I think that maybe his mother is asking for a different kind of health insurance from the insurance company. Mine is not from insurance company, but from the welfare institution. So that is the difference. But anyway that big sum of money will be probably returned after certain years? Could this be possible, peter? Such being the case, it is really too much for that sum of money. OMG.

No, never my parents ask for money. I think ask for money is one thing if they need its okey but you are in a situation that your money is already invested its not good to ask for money.

you know, I can not recall a single incident where my folks have asked us for money. Now, the case is not so with my asking my son... he is living at our home still, has a job and all - and sometimes I am short on cash I will ask him for a temporary loan... it always gets paid back of course, like when the banks open.

There are times when our parents and our loved ones in general puts pressure on us by asking money. Well, as a financial adviser tells, we should not always give in to pressures about money from our loved ones. We can help but they should not demand from us!
