Who owns the internet?

Does anybody knows who is the big boss behind Internet? I learned from history that Internet comes to face in 80s after researchers explore and invent the Internet. I am not sure whether it is true or not, if you have a newer version, please update me.

i think philip emeagwali is the brainchild behind the invention of the internet, when he networked 65,000 processors to solve one of the grand challenges in comp. sci. after that he created a hyperboard or a supercomputer that drive the invention of the internet by ARPANET. that why CNN labeled him the father of the internet, check out at www.emeagwali.com
