Do you get real pleasure from just being with your horse?

How many of you just love being with your horse whether you can ride everyday or just be? I live in an area where we are mostly ice, but find it satifying just to go out and be with my horses. A little love here, and a little love there. Peace and serenity, warm breaths, soft noses, giving scratches and receiving nuzzles. What up lifting pleasure!

I absolutely love being with my horses, even if I can't ride them. For me, it is both therapeutic and calming just to be in their presence. No matter how bad my day may have been, or how stressed out I feel, just a few minutes near them can make me forget about everything!

The horse brings so much happiness. My alternative therapist told me that the Chinese believe horse to ward off evil.People who mean to do harm do not want to be around the horse. I think it has to do with them letting go of evil around the horse. Some people won't allow themselves to change.

I definitely think that horses allow you to be your "true" self when you are around them.

I agree, and they know it if you aren't. Thanks for revisiting!

Heather, the baby horse I used to have - She was a little paint filly but I was forced to sell her when she was a couple of years old. I miss her a lot.
I haven't had a horse for many years either but I do remember what it was like. I loved being with my horses even if I didn't go riding. Sometimes I took a lawn chair and a book out there and just sat in the corral with them and read a book and they would come visit me and wander away but mostly they stayed near me too. It was a wonderful feeling that really touched my heart. I miss having a relationship with my own horse. I'm hoping someday that I can get one again but its not looking to promising right now.

I am glad you have good memories. Hold onto your dream. Did you train your baby, Heather, yourself. We have a lot of babies and it is such joy to work with each for just 5 minutes here and there. Thanks for sharing. I hope you will again have a horse. We have a miniature that just goes everywhere, but always is around when we are out or someone comes. They are fun to drive and are easy keepers.

Don't be scared of horses. Trust me, they are more scared than you are! If you are around horses, make sure you are calm and positive. Believe it or not, they can sense if you are nervous and they will get up-tight too. They are very loving and fun creatures.

Of course get a pleasure from just being around horses. Whether it's a good day and I need to top it off by visiting the horses or it's been a horrible day and I need some comfort - maybe even a shoulder to cry on - the best place to go is the nearest horse.

Yes, I get real pleasure from just being around my horse. I once heard a quote something like, "the best thing for the inside of a man, is the outside of a horse". My horse Hershey, named so for his gorgeous chocolate color and his sweet personality, just loves to come up to me and rest his chin on my shoulder. When he does this he usually just sighs, like he's saying "moms here, everything's alright in the world. Melts my heart everytime, and so makes all the work and money of keeping a horse worth it.

I find it is relaxing to just stand at the window and watch them run and play. It's nice to see their silly antics! oxxoxoxoxoxoxoo
